Preserving samples for genetic testing a room temperature can be expensive and challenging, especially in high humidity environments. High barrier pouches offer a solution when used with desiccants to create a dry environment for long-term preservation. When our GenSwabs with treated specimen cards are stored dry, they can preserve samples for more than twenty years when kept dry. If you are storing samples in an environment where the humidity is low, our GenKeep™ works well to store GenSwab™ samples. However, in high humidity environments we highly recommend that GenSwab samples be stored in a GenPouch with desiccant. The GenPouch can be purchased in a version designed for heat-sealing in a laboratory. If heat sealing is not an option, we offer two sizes with tape closures. A tape closure has a long flap that extends past the opening with an adhesive strip covered by tape. There is a perforation just below the tape so when the tape is removed and the flap is folded at the perforation, the flap with adhesive seals well across the opening.
